Description:
This Ashland has very little use.

Ashland hitches are made by inserting a steel thrust block into the neck of a steel, “C” shaped plate. The yoke system and thrust collar are then placed in their correct positions to be welded 360 degrees around. This design gives Ashland scrapers a full range of motion from the hitch and maximum potential pull-through to the back side of the Pole or the spindle base plate.

The scraper’s Pole is completed with a 2-3/4” ball set. Having a ball and socket set allows you a complete range of motion in a confined space. With a 22” pull point, less weight transfer will occur from the back tires, which allows the scraper to pull across surfaces more smoothly.

Front Section:

The Front Sections on Ashland scrapers have a long, paneled Gooseneck design which allows the front section to grab onto the scraper at a better angle. A longer Front Section places the dolly wheels farther away from the “fall zone” (77” away), so the wheels don’t interfere with the machine’s ejection process. All supported by industrial welded 4″ x 16″ vertically mounted lift cylinders.

Front Pipe:

Round structures, such as the heavy wall pipe that Ashland uses in its Front Section, handle torsional loads (twisting loads) much better than square or rectangle tubing. With rounded pipe, the stress of your load is displaced around the entire circumference of the structure — with any other style, stress is amplified in the corners and seams. Concentrated stress can cause the tubing to fail in these areas, making our Front Section pipe a superior design.

Apron:

The maximum stroke of the 4” x 13” cylinder and strategic pivot points, allows the Apron to open to 55” for fast and easy ejection. Ashland scrapers also have a tight tolerance between the Apron and side walls, which prevent material from wedging in gaps and eventually bending.

Bowl:

Standard dual plated flooring supports the 9.5 cu. yd. heaped capacity. The 950XL2 utilize a set of three blades. The middle blade (the frost bit) is the biggest at 3/4” x 8” x 54”. By designing a middle blade that juts out from the bowl, the scraper employs better suction and a better blade angle, which enables the scraper to collect more material with less horsepower. The scrapers side blades are both 6” long and a custom “L” shape. These blades are set back 2” and are bolted to the floor and sidewalls. This design gives strength and protection to the sidewalls by absorbing the force of hitting rocks and stumps that are along the sides of the cutting path, thus preventing wear on the scraper’s sides. Behind the blades are a 3/4” steel plate (the frog) with punched holes.

Hydraulic Valve:

The 950XL2’s valve assembly functions on a dual cartridge system, using a Sequence and Counter Balance Valve. When engaged, this allows the Apron to open fully prior to the Pushoff moving forward to eject material. Once the ejector wall (Pushoff) has thrust the payload forward, the operator can reverse the control lever in the cab, allowing the ejector wall to retract while the Apron remains open. This system gives the operator the ability to begin loading the scraper immediately. Once the ejector wall is fully retracted to the rear of the Bowl, the sequencing cartridge will divert oil to the Apron — at that point, the Apron will close fully.

If you’d prefer to control your scraper’s Apron independently from the ejector, there is a three circuit option for greater control.

Pushoff:

The 950 uses a 4” x 50” cylinder with a 2.5” rod to extend the large Pushoff assembly. The rear frame of the Pushoff has a wide stance at 48.5”. The front end is 44” wider than the back. By designing a wide ejector area, the scraper can more easily eject an unbalanced load.

To prevent dirt from spilling out the back, there is a 22” tall headache rack that angles 45-degree forward from the bowl. Allowing dirt to cycle over itself and fill both the front and back of the scraper evenly.

Wheel System:

Standard front 16.5 x 16.1 tires, heavy duty spindles, and high capacity 8-bolt hubs allow you to smoothly carry loads at speed over greater distance. Rear 16.9 x 24 tires will get you up and over anything.
