DESCRIPTION 500KW Generator
This engine/generator combination was installed in 1983 inside a boiler room building with approximately 400 run hours in a back-up duty mostly run once a month for testing 30 minutes each time and run once a year for 4 hours at full load with load bank. The unit was enclosed in a sheet metal ducted cooling chamber to reduce ambient temperature rise with a remote radiator mounted on the roof of the building. The radiator was replaced in 2010 with a larger capacity for additional temperature reduction. The unit rating of 520 KW in standby mode is not continuous. Continuous output is 500 KW. The generator was rebuilt including complete rewind of new core in 2010 due to ground fault of a winding. Caterpiller Engine 3412DT 777 H.P.
